Dodge City is an icon of the Wild West. This history began in 1872 after Henry Sutler’s home became a frequent stop for traders and buffalo hunters. Later that year, the railroad would reach this area and a town was born. Buffalo hides were the main commodity in the beginning years but the Longhorns arriving from Texas would take over that role. As with many railroad towns, lawlessness and gun slinging was a common theme. The historic Wild West photo of the most infamous gunslingers and cowboys was taken in Dodge City on June 10th, 1883.
Henry 45-70 Win Lever Action Rifle
Henry Repeating Arms motto is “Made in America or Not Made At All”. This American made lever action is chambered in the 45-70 caliber. This historic caliber was very common for the Sharps 1874 rifle, which was the rifle of choice for most Buffalo Hunters in Dodge City at the time.
